We are in a golden age for recording and composing music that we always dreamed of, and in the golden years, the powerfull chords and slow music has became an obligated worship on any music lover who says loves heavy real heavy music!. Dahuz is a power trío from Aix En Provence, France, (a little city in southern France), formed by Guillaume Spinetta on drums, Alexandre Culoma on bass and Emmanuel Cadman on guitar and vocals.

For all those motherfuckers who says «You can’t combine heavy with melodic vocals», let me tell you that you are WRONG!, for the first listenings on their first theme song Minos The ancient King of Crete and Judge of the Underworld I get noticed about the melodic cavernous vocals that Dahuz has. This combined by the powerfull repetitive like a mantra heavy riffage disipates all the 7 minute long like water on a hell fire!.

Behemot, the beast of many faces are playing now while I write this words. With a lot of chordal changes the description of this demon beast is honoured by the music!, like the old prog rockers did on their times, now Dahuz play for us a mix of power chords and some changes on atmospheric landscapes with the rythm on the background while Emmanuel plays with his guitar trickery and pedals to show us a old guitar soloing of only about a few notes. The breath on music is so important, not high all damn time but not quiet all time!, just a balance to let the guitar talk about the story of the song, and musical texture of guitar sounds like a cello or like the howl of behemot on their lair of fire and desperation. The variations after the quiet section are about anguish (this emotion show on the guitar sound for me), the mix of the 6th string open and 5th doing the soloing are amazing! You must try to get your own stuff on this simple guitar masterpiece that Emmanuel show to us!.

Behemot, la bestia de muchas caras está sonando ahora mientras escribo estas palabras. Con muchos cambios acordales, la descripción de este demonio bestia es honorada con la música! como los viejos rockeros progresivos lo hicieron en sus tiempos, ahora Dhuz toca para nosotros con una mezcla de acordes de poder y cambios atmosféricos con la base rítmica en el fondo mientras Emmanuel toca sus efectos en conjunto con la guitarra para mostrarnos una textura sonora «antigua» con tan solo unas cuantas notas. La respiración en la música es de gran importancia, no tan alto todo el maldito tiempo ni tan silencioso, un balance debe existir que deje a la guitarra hablar acerca de la historia del tema, y el tono de la guitarra o textura musical suena como un violonchello o como el aullido del mismo Behemot en su guarida de fuego y desesperación. Las variaciones despues de la sección tranquila son angustiantes (por lo menos esa emoción invocan los riffs personalmente hablando), y la combinación de la cuerda 6 al aire y la 5 haciendo los solos son impresionantes! For many people a 11 minute song is «too long and boring» those people can go to fuck themselves, this kind of songs are for listening carefully and not to lose any detail, like the closing theme on Behemot, an epic track about a multifaceted beast in a form of progressive rock, playing with changes, doing atmospheres, progressing with chords, sometimes improvising and later closing with the initial theme. The drumming of Guillaume are awesome as much as the bass lines of Alexandre living in a holly entity together with guitarist Emmanuel. Love these palm muted chords closing Behemot!.

Para mucha gente, un tema de 11 minutos es «muy largo y aburrido», para mi esa gente se puede ir a la mierda, este tipo de temas son para escucharse cuidadosamente y no perderse ningun detalle, como la sección con que cierra Behemot; un tema épico acerca de esa bestia infernal en forma de rock progresivo, jugando con cambios, atmósferas, progresando con acordes, aveces improvisando y despues regresando al tema inicial. La batería de Guillaume es sorprendente al igual que las lineas de bajo de Alexandre todos en conjunto en una sola entidad junto con el guitarrista Emmanuel. Me encantan esos palm mutes con que cierra Behemot!.

Sekhmet as arabic variations on their notes, this for a strange way is my favorite theme, I love all stuff doing with arabic and middle east sounds. The bass sounds so liquid! what pedal Alexandre must be using? Talking about the name of the song; the adoration of the sun must return, the pagan deities must return to save our whole planet earth, Sekhmet was an ancient solar deity so the musical context is well worked here by the way, lately I have been thinking about the idea of coming back to a neo paganism as religion, damn we need people who be afraid of nature,

Not just a bunch of noise and heavy riffage, music must breathe, must guide us to imagine the ancient egyptian goddess that names the song, music must have reall heavy power and some moments of crescendos and decrescendos like the one in minute 4:00, really loved this song for this detail. Music prepare us for something bigger, maybe guitarist Emmanuel used an octavia pedal I dont know but this mix of combined intervals make more rich and enjoyable the musical landscape of something really big!. Everyone has this natural intuition on music but my friends of Dahuz really dig the big one.This way taken by our brothers Dahuz is a wise desicion!, Would like to hear how the ancient mythology sounds with more heavy riffage stoner doom and progressive elements.

Hablando de música y disonancia, disonancia lo es todo hermanos!, y pos supuesto las dinámicas. No solo un montón de ruido y riffs «heavys», la música debe respirar, debe guiarnos a imaginar el tema que se trate, por ejemplo imaginar a la antigua diosa egipcia que titula el tema, la música debe tener ese poder real y algunos momentos con crescendos y decrescendos como el que sucede en el minuto 4:00, en verdad me encantó ese tema por este detalle simple. La música nos prepara ppara algo realmente grande, tal vez el guitarrista Emmanuel usó un pedal octavador no lo sé pero esta mezcla combinada de intervalos hace más disfrutable el paisaje musical de grandeza. Todos tenemos esa intuición natural en la música pero mis amigos de Dahuz realmente lo hicieron en grande. Este camino tomado por nuestros hermanos de Dahuz ha sido una sabia decisión, me gustaría escuchar más sonidos con mitología antigua ambientados con la pesades del stoner doom y más elementos de rock progresivo.

INTERVIEW WITH/ENTREVISTA CON DAHUZ: STONER DOOM FROM FRANCE

SP. Could you tell us a short story about the project Dahuz? when and where did you get together?

Dahuz: The idea to create Dahuz was born during summer 2018. Emmanuel and Alex had been jamming for some months with other musicians and they decided to create this project together. We were also already playing with Guillaume in another alternative band so he eventually became the drummer of Dahuz.

SP. From what kind of musical background did you come from?

D: We all come from the rock/metal scene. Stoner and doom were a nice halfway destination so we could blend it all together.

SP. Who are your musical influences?

D: Our major influences are bands like Spaceslug for the atmosphere, Elder for the progressive side and Monolord for the heaviness. There’s also a bit of post-rock influence on Behemoth.

SP. Reading the presskit brief, could you explain what kind of musical simbiosis could happens to make music in a really short time?

D: We think it’s all about the feeling you can get while jamming and exchanging with one another. Sometimes it takes only a few notes and then we just follow the jam train.

SP: Could you tell us about the sound of this EP? Why the mixing between heavy riffage and melodic vocals? It sound really heavy and ethereal!

D: We enjoy creating a wide variety of soundscapes. The heavy riffing is really enjoyable to play loud while the other melodic parts are more about atmosphere like the calm before the storm.

SP: what is the meaning of Dahuz? we are spanish spoken people and really sound so cool!

D: In the French Alps the dahu is a legend about a goat with shorter legs on one side so it can walk along the side of the mountains. Some say that if you’re hunting one you just have to whistle so it turns around and dies by falling down the slope. The Z is to honour the fuzz gods.

SP: what is the concept of the EP? I could see some known names on the songs and I really loved the artwork!.

D: The concept of the Ep is to tell stories through the music but in the ancient way. A long time ago, songs were used to spread words of legend, myths and visions of strange creatures. Minos is the greek king of Crete’s island that became one of the three judges of the underworld. Behemoth is the massive biblical monster announcer of the end of the world. Finally Sekhmet is the egyptian goddess with a head of a lioness, she is known as the desert wind blower. The artwork – made by the talented French artist Jo Riou – depicts Minos shattering the Earth in an «end of the world» way.

SP: what is the guitar technique used on behemot? the floating notes like a cello are mezmerizing

Emmanuel: Actually it’s just a volume technique I like to use. No particular pedal or equipment needed but a volume pot on a guitar with some lush reverb. I tried to add the same vibrato technique you can observe on a real cello player.

SP: how was the process about composing those songs, did you have improvised parts, do you jam when live or respect the 100% of the song structure?

D: Most of the time, Emmanuel composes the different parts of the songs and then Alexandre and Guillaume add their various interpretations on the said parts. Sometimes a brand new part appears while jamming. Sekhmet’s groove was heavily changed thanks to some jamming sessions for instance.

SP: do you are a amplifier and old gear fetichists? or could you use any instruments and gear (I saw a jcm800 and ampeg on your instagram)?

D: We enjoy gear that suits our various needs. The Marshall JCM800 head is the only real piece of history we own as it dates from 1982. SP: How was the experience of recording in studio? how was working with your label?

D: For now, we’re without a label. We decided to hold the EP in our hands before the very first concert so we dealt with everything ourselves. The recording was an amazing experience at Break the Wall Production in Marseille. We also gave a few headaches to our sound guy who listenend to each and every of our needs.

SP: how are reception from listeners and people? how were your gigs in 2019?

D: We weren’t expecting so much appreciation as Dahuz was literally «born» when the EP was released. Thanks to 666MrDoom’s YouTube channel we’ve received lots of kind words from all over the world. We had the chance to enjoy a few gigs before the pandemic and they were great, we played with some other amazing bands and we felt like our project was finally alive.

SP: what came next for Dahuz, a full album? what are future plans after pandemic oubreak?

D: We are heavily working on a full album for 2021. We’d like to go way beyond what we’ve already done. Surely we will enjoy a few gigs by the end of 2020 depending on the situation.

SP: what do you did in this quarentine? how are things now on france?

D: Well we spent countless hours on our instruments but by ourselves at home. We needed to come back together as a band and play loud. Hopefully now things are getting better as public places are opening up again. People also seem to get back to their usual business now. For the best or the worst we can’t foresee.

Camaradas, tenemos que seguir trabajando a pesar de las dificultades mundiales y para demostrarlo les presentamos a la banda de nuestra querida amiga y colaboradora desde Francia Maud Gibbons: Präy su álbum debut que lanzaron el año pasado pero que no habíamos tenido oportunidad de darnbeos un clavado por sus maravillosas melodías y pasajes psicodélicos!. Anteriormente habiamos tenido a maud con los Vulture, así que ahora les pido hermanos de la manera más atenta que apoyemos a cualquier amigo músico que se pueda ya que como sabrán el recurso que generaba más ingresos (la música en vivo) se encuentra mundialmente paralizada. Hace cosa de un año Praÿ lanzó su primer larga duración (que mamón se escuchó eso) y fue cuando Maud me envió el enlace y yo de forma imprudente lo pospuse y se fueron acumulando los proyectos por revisar, y joder, es mi maldita culpa y del trabajo normal y de las sesiones del supernauta, pero aqui estamos una vez más con Maud pero esta vez ella toca aquí la guitarra (En vulture tocaba el bajo) y al grano ya!… Este nuevo proyecto en formato trío poderoso esta conformado por Maud Gibbons a la guitarra, Jason Rols al bajo y Antoine Berthet-Bondet a la bataca y en resumen por si eres huevón de leer, se trata de jams, jams enérgicos, música que pone de buenas y atasque demencial de riffs con una base rítmica inigualable y aplastante: «stoner jam rock space trip», ahora lean:

El proyecto anterior de Maud que revisamos (Vulture) con mucho gusto en sonidos primitivos en el 2017 venía con toda la fuerza que el formato power trío nos puede brindar!, Para mi es impresionante cómo en tan poco tiempo Praÿ logró posicionarse abriendo paso a los sueños musicales de este power trío. Recuerdo en una plática que tuvo su servidor con Maud me mencionaba que ella apenas había agarrado la guitarra y me quedé estúpido! Esto es muestra que por lo menos el stoner rock así como todas sus variantes y orígenes, tocar pegado al metrónomo no te sirve de mucho, es más bien una situación de talento, ganas, actitud y de no hacerle caso al clásico pelmazo que te diga «sonó culero».

¿En dónde leí que cada generación del presente y pasado tiene su forma de arte que jamás podrá ser emulada en otras épocas futuras?

Los pasajes agresivos y furiosos se interponen ante la calma melódica de una sección musical que flota en el aire, los arpegios intuitivos de Maud en el tema que arranca este álbum «First Trip» crean el ambiente mientras la sección rítmica se prepara para otro ataque sónico en temas que rebasan los 11 minutos!, esto es gracias a la escuela que trae consigo los músicos en su conjunto, el jam, la improvisación, las tripas y el sentimiento y estado de ánimo de cada integrante. ¿En dónde leí que cada generación del presente y pasado tiene su forma de arte que jamás podrá ser emulada en otras épocas futuras? Esto es real, dejenme les explico en el párrafo siguiente mis razones:

Los músicos modernos como nosotros tomamos los mejores elementos que logramos captar de la música que estamos escuchando todos los días, esto se suma a factores como la vida personal del músico (si es alegre, relajada, miserable o violenta) y la situación social de su entorno o mejor dicho… el medio ambiente: sus problemáticas, el primer mundo o tercer mundo, la solvencia de poder realizar lo que uno quiera (libertades). El mundo sin lugar a dudas marcará un antes y un después en este problema del «covid-19» sobre todo a las clases bajas y los países del tercer mundo y se verá muy reflejado en las creaciones artísticas que salgan después del 2020, nos espera decadencia, demencia e incertidumbre.

Praÿ fue grabado a principios de 2019, un año en verdad dulce y decadente para muchos de nosotros en donde no sabíamos que estaba a punto de quebrarse la punta del iceberg y… la música de Praÿ como en el tema «Heretic Eye» me muestran a mi mucha energía, embriaguez y salud como un regalo musical de los dioses malignos tocada por dos diablos y una mente maestra aun más diabólica que despliega cascadas de solos y nos cuenta historias en sus pasajes instrumentales, nos seducen y conducen suavemente con sus matices sonoros alternando la violencia, la fuerza con la sutileza de un arpeggio con efecto delay…. Praÿ es energía pura, juventud y poder!, un stoner rock instrumental con pasajes y jams larguísimos en donde las mentes de nuestros jóvenes amigos músicos franceses viajaban por lugares en donde el sufrimiento no existe!, en mi opinión personal.

Los 12 minutos que dura el segundo tema se van como agua mientras reflexiono en mi futura suerte de volver a toparme con una banda de stoner rock igual que praÿ que invoque esas imágenes dentro de mi cerebro devastado por la comodidad y el hastío. Sinceramente no tengo puntos de comparación para Praÿ ya que mi fuerte no es el stoner rock moderno, hablando de manera personal tengo pánico de copiarle a otras bandas contemporáneas al crear mi música y es el motivo principal por el que mis escuchas se remontan hacia lo viejo, las momias y monolitos olvidados en el planeta de la diosa Praÿ, (la verdad desconozco a que se refiere el nombre de este trio poderoso), me dirán mamón, presuntuoso, pedante, pero prometo adentrarme más al sonido stoner actual!.

Mentes no contaminadas

En verdad como me hubiese gustado preguntar muchas cosas a Praÿ sobre su material que nos mandaron hace un año pero por razones personales y circunstanciales no habiamos podido tener el gusto de escuchar este nuevo material y mucho menos coincidir en una charla formal con los integrantes de praÿ pero soy feliz al saber que ellos han tenido éxito con su música! 😀

,, algo que me sigue asombrando es que se trata de músicos que tocan con pasión.,, se nota en seguida en los matices que agregan a cada verso instrumental que explota en solos de guitarra tocados por Maud!, que habilidad!, aprendió escuchando albums?, habrá tomado clases? quién guitarrista fue su muso? en que bandas tocaban anteriormente el baterista y bajista, que música es la que más escuchan?, estudiaron? tocan otros estilos aparte de stoner con praÿ?… jaja, todo un misterio hermanos!. Ustedes igual pueden lograrlo y no se metan mucha mierda en la cabeza ni se dejen llevar por quien diga que no lo pueden hacer, vean a Praÿ! en menos de un año, lanzaron un grandioso álbum!.

La música hablará por ustedes y será su gloria o su muerte mísera, la gente se encargará de elevarlos hasta donde Lemmy les dará su bendición.

Para mi y hasta ahora lo descubro, es importante que les valga verga lo que los demás piensen de sus proyectos o de la mierda que se encuentren realizando, gente como esa se encontrarán en cualquier lado y es mejor ignorarlos como si no existieran. Mis amigos de Praÿ por fortuna han realizado lo que les ha venido en gana!, su actitud es maravillosa al que dirán o de la opinión de un gordito detrás de una computadora, al carajo con ellos!. Si se escucha moderno, si le falta un toque más vintage, esta es la música de nuestros tiempos y debemos respetar cada creación ajena y disfrutarla en su escencia primordial, el ingrediente extra es cuando el atento escucha se dice a si mismo: Quiero volver a escuchar ese álbum! o Quiero volver a ver a Praÿ en concierto, si alguien piensa esto, están del otro lado, no habrá necesidad de… como dije anteriormente, rogar por likes en facebook, no. La música hablará por ustedes y será su gloria o su muerte mísera, la gente se encargará de elevarlos hasta donde Lemmy les dará su bendición.

No quiero imaginar como terminan después de cada presentación en vivo cerrando con el tema «Bottom of the Universe» totalmente bañados en sudor y en un éxtasis musical que cualquier camarada músico (del estilo que sea) me dejará mentir. Hermanos, con este jodido calor esta que me revienta los cojones!, pero gracias a la música de nuestro hermano Arno Boytel desde Francia nos hace llegar este material que lanzó en el 2016 y que realizó la versión en Vinil bajo el sello Nasoni!, como en el anterior review de Magic Shades Blues; Arno nos ambienta estos dias con sol acojonante mientras me encuentro enmedio del pavimento y unos audifonos quemandome la piel e imaginando un viejo oeste mexicano muy al estilo de las clásicas de Clint Eastwood!. No se imaginan como son de quemantes las aburridas calles de pachuca, pero ahi vamos caminando siempre con un hoyo en las suelas de los zapatos y con Arno Boytel sonando en nuestro andar!.¿A donde nos dirigimos? Por supuesto hermanos!, por una jodida cerveza y si se me da la gana a fumar un poco… al ritmo de The Mystic Dance!! Miguel Krieg.

Para Arno Boytel, acerca de su album, mystic dance:

Escribo estas líneas al despertar después de sueños con mujeres jóvenes de tres ojos y escuchar el nombre de una mujer repetidamente en mi cabeza, justo para emplear todas las energías que recuperé después de aspirar el polvo de la ciudad por más de 16 horas seguidas, ese polvo ensordecedor y asfixiante, mi escape es: la música. El material que Arno me proporcionó no tiene comparación alguna ya que me atrapa en un ambiente sonoro desértico y lisérgico. No se si se trate de algún material conceptual pero los tracks me van guiando hacia un paisaje con peyotes y el sol ardiendo sobre mi cerebro quemando los pensamientos más superfluos por los que uno coloca una importancia suprema… que estupidez! Yo reclamo por mis derechos «FIGHT FOR MY RIGHTS», el derecho de tomar mi mochila y largarme con el resto de dinero que me sobra por una carretera polvorienta usando tan solo mis pies y mis botas como recurso para huir del mundo que está podrido. Soy de los que aún guarda una esperanza por la unión del hombre con la naturaleza, pero aveces es una utopía que estoy obligado a tragarme… pero aún así yo reclamo mis derechos!.

«WALKIN ALL OVER THE TOWN me traslada a esas caminatas a pie bajo el sol, donde los excesos ya no son nada para mí, mi cuerpo se encuentra cansado de tanta porquería y solo quiero caminar por todo el pueblo, vagabundear»

Llego a un pueblo donde no existe la ley, es la ciudad del pecado y el riff introductorio es verdaderamente rompecojones, pareciera un verdadero himno para los que caminamos sin rumbo y gustan de ser brutalmente honestos, un verdadero misántropo desértico que ve con indiferencia lo que le rodea, piensa solamente en olvidar su vida pasada de excesos y va al encuentro de la danza mística en contacto directo con la salvaje y despiadada naturaleza. El sonido de las guitarras con ese reverb le dan un toque mágico y sumamente ambiental casi como la música de Davie Allan y sus Arrows. WALKIN ALL OVER THE TOWN me traslada a esas caminatas a pie bajo el sol, donde los excesos ya no son nada para mí, mi cuerpo se encuentra cansado de tanta porquería y solo quiero caminar por todo el pueblo, vagabundear bajo el sol hasta que las comisuras de los labios de rajen en tiras tiesas de carne sangrante. Que delicioso tema hermanos!,… no suena al blues rock del gran Muddy Waters que miles emulan en pleno siglo XXI, suena a un blues rock lisérgico setentero, suena a blues rock de foragidos.

Runnin’ to the stars es como ir hacia unos antiquísimos megalitos enmedio del desierto. ¿Qué personas pudieron haber dejado enormes piedras de 6 metros de altura mirando hacia las estrellas… precisamente en dirección a la galaxia próxima de andrómeda? Un antiguo ritual se dice se celebraba en aquel lugar en donde un portal se lograba abrir con la ayuda de la bendita planta de peyote. El bajo da la sensación de que te encuentras siempre en acción, corriendo o iendo en dirección hacia algo, y es muy utilizado en la música de fines de los 70’s, principalmente con las bandas de postpunk y new wave, industrial (me sorprende la riqueza musical del compositor Arno Boytel) todo esto sobre una intensa capa de guitarras psicodélicas o más bien guitarras que se parecen al tiempo que va pasando pero en alta velocidad…

Los arreglos en Thinkin’ on my bed son impresionantes aún así se trate de la flauta realizando notas sobre la misma escala. Es un tema bastante introspectivo que nos deleita con ese cambio de tonalidad a mitad de verso y … joder que maravilla más la guitarra con ese dulce vibrato mi cuerpo comienza a supurar LSD y sustancias tóxicas donde el malviaje de haber estado en aquellos megalítos hacen que me tumbe en mi cama, dispuesto a recibir la bendición de los dioses del desierto. El sonido de una guitarra acústica nos previene de un excelente track inspirado tal vez en pink floyd (cymballine), hawkwind o can, en donde después o antes del malviaje psicodélico nos tranquilizan con un tema acústico con arreglos impresionantes como anteriormente lo dije.

Mirage es la locura, el viaje psicodélico a la perfección donde comienzas con ese fervor y felicidad de poder escapar en donde crees que eres el maldito rey del desierto, sin embargo el viaje te arrastra hacia un vórtice del que jamás podrás salir, sé por experiencia el miedo que se siente al saber que probablemente te quedarás en el camino mientras traes colgada alguna sustancia pero es necesario dominar ese miedo y esa caída gravitacional de tu mente para llegar a lo supremo, al origen de todas las cosas en donde puedes ver lo invisible y escuchar lo inescuchable como dice el libro del Tao. Aquí la influencia de Hawkwind es innegable me dió la misma sensacion de vértigo que la primera vez que escuché el track Paranoia.

Las notas drone siempre en mi inconciente generarán una sensación de paz y armonía, esto unido junto al track Mystical Dance que es un excelente ejemplo de música experimental mezclando muchos sonidos: el de percusiones y otros instrumentos, la flauta que emerge de entre la nota drone. Esto es música orgánica y natural, pero a la vez guarda un cierto aire místico mágico, como si me encontrara con una civilización antigua que en sus rituales tocaran esta música… tal vez antiguos hombres de cro-magnon adorando a sus dioses ancestrales que realmente bajaron de las estrellas y fueron ellos quienes tallaron y colocaron esos monolítos que ahora observo mientras el peyote bondadosamente abandona mi cuerpo.

ENGLISH VERSION.

I write these lines when I wake up from a dream about third eyed girls and a woman name on my head…,so I just wake up to use all the energies I recovered after inhaling the dust of the city for more than 16 hours straight, that deafening and deadening dust, my escape is: music. I come to a town where the law does not exist, it is the city of sin and the introductory riff is truly «rompecojones» (kickass), it seems a true hymn for those of us who walk aimlessly and use to be brutally honest, a true desert misanthrope who sees with indifference what surrounds him, thinks only of forgetting his past life of excess and goes to meet the mystical dance in direct contact with the wild and ruthless nature. The sound of the guitars with that reverb give it a magical and highly ambient touch almost like the music of Davie Allan and his Arrows, that old tone from a sg vintage model and the bulb amplifiers, the true sound untouched by godamn protools stuff, Davie Allan must be proud!.

Runnin ‘to the stars is like going to some ancient megaliths in the middle of the desert. Why people could have left those huge stones (6 meters high) looking towards the stars? … precisely in the direction of the next galaxy of andromeda? An ancient ritual is said to be held in that place where a portal could be opened with the help of the blessed peyote plant. The bass gives the feeling that you are always in action, running or going in the direction of something, and is very used in the music of the late 70’s, mainly with the bands of postpunk and new wave, industrial (I am surprised by the wealth musical of the composer Arno Boytel) all this on an intense layer of psychedelic guitars or rather guitars that look like time passing but at high speed… and I feelt so stoned.

The sound of an acoustic guitar prevents us from an excellent track inspired perhaps by pink floyd (cymballine), hawkwind or can on their healing closing track «give me some coffe, damn!. The texture of the flute is really mezmerizing! I cannot describe it with words only that Arno and the guest flutist Michel «Seuls» Thiboult are doing a «spiritual talking» with their music. This is the real and ultimate music from the world!.

Mirage is madness, the psychedelic journey to perfection where you start with that fervor and happiness of being able to escape where you think you are the damn king of the desert, however the journey drags you into a vortex from which you can never go, I know from experience the fear that is felt to know that you will probably stay on the road while you are hanging some substance but it is necessary to master that fear and that gravitational drop of your mind to reach the supreme, the origin of all things where you can see the invisible and listen to the unsearchable as the Tao book says. Here, the influence of Hawkwind is undeniable and gave me the same sensation of vertigo as the first time I heard the track Paranoia from Hawkwind.

The hammond in Million Stars Away is impressive, it is an authentically old and well-worked sound. Drone notes are always in my unconscious and will generate a sense of peace and harmony, this together with the track Mystical Dance is an excellent example of experimental music mixing many sounds: the percussion and som kind of wooden percussion with water, the flute that emerges from the note drone . This is organic and natural music, but at the same time it keeps a certain magical mystical air, as if I found an ancient civilization that in its rituals played this music … perhaps ancient cro-magnon men worshiping their ancient gods They really came down from the stars and it was they who carved and placed those monoliths that I now observe while the peyote kindly leaves my body, and then.. the mystic dance begins!.

SP ¿There’s a whole concept album on the mystic dance album?

Arno: Not really, but the main themes of this album are the fight for his own rights, a self reflection maybe for a better life… It speaks dreams I have too, like strange mirage, mystic dance with stars sometimes haha

SP ¿Your music here sounds like a western desert lysergic ambience, why did you get that sounds?

A: Ho Thanks ! I have listened and studied the 60’/70′ sounds a lot, and after a while, during different bands’s experiences, I wanted to make something different, more personal and authentic. I wanted to mix Tribal and Exotic percussions with Heavy and Psychedelic sounds of Electric Guitars, Organ ETC.

SP ¿Where came the main riff from the song walking all over the town?

A: I was jamming and working Guitar and I thought this Guitar and Bass riff.

SP: ¿What effect pedals did you use on your guitar on songs like Mirage or mystic dance?

A: All sounds effect pedals are the «Liverpool» Tech 21 (Vox amp Simulator), A Dunlop Wha-Wha, Electro harmonix Delay and a Ebow, It’s like an electronic Bow. I love this sound, sometimes close of the Robert Fripp sound…and I love King Crimson…

SP: ¿Who is the flutist, could tell us some more about him?

A: The Flutist (and percussionnist for the mystic dance song) Is Michel Thiboult, he has played for many Psychedelic and experimental Jam sessions In Paris since the 90′ years. He played With Aqua nebula oscillator, Music Magic, shaman Bottle ETC. and he play with me since 2015.

SP: I was really amazed how good is the song thinking in my bed, feels like an authentic representation of myself smoking pot on my bed or just thinking on a sunny hot day, where came from this song?

A: Like you ! I was thinking on my bed but drinking my beer, with the In a Gadda la vida sound on my record player and the inspiration came for the lyrics… music came later, one or two days after. I thought something like John Martyn or Roy Harper like Progressive Folk. I think The Flute is very important on this track.

SP. I like a lot the chord progression of that song (thinking on my bed) feels like a jump!, could share to us the chord progression to play on guitar on a smoking psychedelic party?

A: yes, E min – C min and F# is the chord progression.

SP: What is the concept of The Mystic Dance song? I listen a hell lot of layers of sounds and percussions!
A: The mystic dance is an Experimental Jam In two mouvements.

SP: Do you consider yourself a experimenter by nature?
A: For the music yes !

SP: Did you study some music took classes or are you a do it yourself musician?
A: I studied three years In a musical school In France, but I think, the best music school is the jam sessions and play everyday.

SP: Could we jam in the future if we go to France or you come to Mexico?
A: A jam together ? yes, of course ! It would be nice brother !

SP: Who made the artwork of the mystic dance front cover? Looks like a mirrored image!.

A: ho yes ! It’s like a mirror ! This is a picture made by myself In Pompei, Italy. Do you know the band : Greatest show on earth ? I was inspired by the Inside cover of their album «Horizons».

Hermanos, que no se pierda la hermosa tradición de escribir sandeces en este su blog favorito! Les narraré aquí cómo descubrí la música de nuestro hermano Arno que desde Francia logró cautivar mi mamonería musical!. Es como si a la primera vista una carnosa mujer me provocara sensaciones placenteras, así fue el encuentro con el blues rock/ folk rock/ rock psicodélico del proyecto principal de Arno Boytel!. Les invito a relajarse y divertirse con estas anécdotas que estoy a punto de escribir en Sonidos Primitivos y les ofrezco mi mas sincera disculpa, he andado en el jodido trabajo todos los malditos dias y fines de semana en la oleada de conciertos de octubre en México, crudeando y conociendo gente nueva. Arno Boytel y su Special Deliverance nos trae música orgánica sin sintetizadores ni brutalidad extrema ni alaridos de horror, es él mismo haciendo su música,… escuchen y compren su álbum digital, me costó 140 varos! The music from our friend Arno I discovered on facebook page Aftersabbath, you can look what you could find on the next corner! and I give click to the music while I was on a lazy hour on a sunday morning and I have a great surprise listening! a simple bluesrock with no drums only percussions. aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh aaaaaaaah ah ahhh ahhhh» the chorus is amazing! and the voice with reverb induce me to go to some dirty pubs of my town or an unknow bar where there is beautiful russian women.! The guitar vibrato gives that feeling of listening a 1970’s album and this is the goal of Arno with his Magical Shades Blues.

La música de nuestro amigo Arno la descubrí por casualidad en el grupo de facebook de After Sabbath, jamás se imagina uno lo que se puede encontrar a la vuelta de la esquina y al darle click a su música mientras me encontraba haraganeando un domingo por la mañana me llevé una grata sorpresa, un blues rock simple sin batería más que unas percusiones sencillas!, aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh aaaaaaaah ah ahhh ahhhh, el coro es jodidamente pegajoso y la voz reverberante de Arno me figura que me encuentro en el taquito feliz (un putero de mala muerte) o en algún lugar desconocido para mi donde hay hermosas mujeres rusas (saben donde hay?) jaja!, el efecto de la guitarra de vibrato le da el sabor exacto a un tema de 1970! y es el objetivo principal de Arno con su más nuevo lanzamiento en Magical Shades Blues.

Something You Like gives to me a good feelin’!. The harmonic playing all the time gives some texture to the song and on words of Arno he love the 60’s and 70’s sounds! He’s a meloman that just have his lifestyle based on the period 60’s 70’s! Its amazing! This track are now on my favorites while a drink a beer or two with friends.

Something You Like me pone de buen humor hermanos! la armónica sonando todo el jodido tiempo realza la textura musical y en palabras del mismo compositor (Arno toca todos los instrumentos y en algunos tracks mete colaboradores)revive el auténtico sonido de los 70’s ya que Arno es un melómano y fanático que hace de su estilo de vida justo como en la década de 1960-1970, eso es la hostia hermanos!. Cómo me vería yo con un acampanado!? No quiero ni pensarlo jaja. Automáticamente este primer track ha pasado a mis tracks favoritos de fiestas y borracheras post conciertos!.

En la entrevista le dije a Arno que me recordaba a lo que Sam Gopal hizo con su disco y el me recomendó escuchar a los Jade Warrior, me considero un blasfemo por no haberle puesto mis manos encima a los Jade Warrior!, la instrumentación como ya lo había dicho es muy simple sin embargo es como un balde de agua fría ante tamborazos, distorsiones en C y réplicas del Master of Reality, esto es fresco y el fuzz atronador de Arno retumba en mis pequeñas bocinas y se atreve a improvisar un solo de guitarra psicodélico que bien estudiado tiene nuestro estimado compositor, por ejemplo los solos de guitarra de los Edgar Broughton, no es un solo de guitarra como tal, es un requinto a una cuerda donde se solea a libertad sobre el mismo tono, por ejemplo en Trouble Trouble.

Sometimes brothers I confess that I suffer from anxiety due to a condition I had a year ago in the ear and nasal septum, this caused me many problems and I was convalescent half a year. El bajo con un fuzz atronador son realmente cosas de otro mundo. La guitarra tiene lo suyo pero un bajo fuzzeado no tiene límites. Sus frecuencias sonoras nos llegan de alguna manera a nuestro inconciente y nos hipnotizan en verdad bajo un manto santificado de tranquilidad. Las frecuencias sonoras bajas en lo personal me fascinan y me tranquilizan el estrés, el concierto de Om dejenme les digo que ha sido de lo mejor que he escuchado en vivo. SP: yeah man, your project is amazing, I discovered recently I think on aftersabbath forum, I was amazed how do you get the natural old sound from blues rock bands from 70’s??

A: haha thank you. I think This is really the sound I like… The 60’/70’s sound Is very amazing and Intense ? And I have a Bass Guitar and Electric of 1974… so, I think it’s very cool for the 70’s sound.bass guitar and electric guitar.

S:I was talking about that your album its very different from what I’ve heard so no drummer, only percussionist

A:
yes that’s right, perhaps more Blues and groovy psychedelic Rock. Yes, the problem, special Deliverance is finally a «one man band with featuring», I composed very quickly and I love the bongos and other percussions… you know, like the first Jade Warrior album ? no Drums, just percussions…

S: Also the sam gopal stuff!! yes !! exactly man, your first track something you like is so godamn hipnotic, also like a ritual where a beautiful girl is dancing, where do you get this? just from jamming?

A: Before to composed this album, I was Tired and wearied for different reasons…I had other projects. And A day, I listened again my records collection, Traffic, Hendrix, Johnny Winter, John Mayall, Redbone, and it was like a Resurrection In my Heart… Power of Music, really Intense. In the Song «Waiting for a change», I say : Music can save your mind If you think It’s good for you»

SP: Yeah, if you think that, also «Something you like» gives to me some kind of mental peace from humanly troubles because remembers me that we dont have anything to lose , so go with it!the chorus is so sticky to my mind, I really love to sing ohhhhohohohoh ohohoh, really amazing work, so this is a one man project with guests damn that would be a lot of hard work for you! how do you deal with this, how many time have you to compose all tracks??

A: yes the whoooo chorus was like a Indian Singing… And something you like was composed when I was In Holiday, on a Empty beach…I was alone, It was a very cool moment for me ? . Ha, certain songs like Moonchild’s trip and Trouble trouble was Old compostions never recorded again. But I like hard work If It’s my passion

S: haha! Moonchild trip is so heavy!, that is a kind of Flower Travellin Band to it!, like mystic or indian raga music, I was hearing your album a few weeks and I said, hell, what is this!?? Do you have a special passion for heavy 60’s and 70’s music like sabbath, flower travelling or german rock like silberbart to create this track? what inspire you to get this monolithic track?

A:
Yes, that’s right… I love this band. For Moonchild’s trip, more like something heavy and Hypnotic maybe like the modern heavy Psychedelic (Om/Sleep, earth…), but The Saucerful of Secrets’s pink floyd album too. Maybe Six Organs of Admittance… Amon duul

S:
how many years have you been on the road, on the music man, the truth is that Ive never known about you till a few days ago, I look into your bandcamp and you have recordings from 2013!
could you tell us about your other projects that you are working?

A:
I’m On Music since 1998, I was 17 years old. I’ve played Bass Guitar for many Rock, Funk and Soul Bands. Did approximately 500 Gigs since 1995, In france and Manchester. Yes, I’m working for New songs with a new line up for Special Deliverance, so we are going In record studio for December with a Drummer, My cousin on Guitar and me on Vocals, Bass Guitar and Harmonica. The songs are maybe like the Cream, Mountain, Grand funk railroad and Redbone style… It’ll be ready for the current of 2019. But before this, I might have some Vinyl edition Pressage For The Mystic Dance album with Nasoni records from Berlin

that sounds so good! I need to listen the new stuff when ready…the mystic dance is your past album right? You are a veteran from music man!, whay advice do you have from new musicians like me doing on the scene? What words keep you up on the highway when everything was not fine?

A:
yes, It’s the precedent album (2016) haha thanks brother ? Yes I have now this new line up for gigs and studio. The words ? I don’t know, It’s like something which tells you everything ‘s going much better a day…

hahaha yes !my friend. Yes, It was a jam with a friend of mine, He played Synthetizer, and I have Played sometimes In Duo Line up. He played Organ and Flute (He plays flute and Harmonium In the Mystic Dance’s Album…), and my self on 12 string acoustic Guitar. It was really Experimental. So, I wanted to Put this little Jam for ending this Magical Shades Blues. Ok :

ha yes I know a little this band ! First time I was 8 years old, my father was a Guitarist, a day, He played me a vinyl on his old 60’s amp turntable, It was the dark side of the moon. My father had kept his Rory Gallagher, Ten years after, pink floyd and deep purple posters, and When I have see that, I said to myself » That’s what I want to make and that I want to be»
